Age 67, a resident of Tijeras since 2009, died Sunday, July 20, 2014. She is survived by her husband, Roger, of Tijeras; sons, Randy DeVaux and wife Angela of Myrtle Beach, SC; Ryan DeVaux of Lake Elsinore, CA; grandchildren, Madison DeVaux and Meghan DeVaux of Myrtle Beach, SC; mother, Helen Nahrwold of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sisters, Brenda Schuller of Woodburn, Indiana; Carol Nahrwold of Fort Wayne, Indiana and brother, John M. Nahrwold of New Haven, Indiana. Rhonda graduated from Purdue University with honors in 1969 and retired from Irvine Unified School District in 2009 as the School Nutrition Director after 16 years. Prior to that she was Director of School Food Services programs in La Habra, California; Greenwood, SC; New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School District, IN; and Wilmington, NC; for a total of 33 years service managing school lunch programs. She was active in both state and national School Nutrition Associations (SNA) wherever she worked and was president of the California School Nutrition Association in 2007-2008. In 2009 she was named National Outstanding Director of the year by the national SNA as well as received numerous achievement awards over the years. After retirement she became active in her church, in Follow the Sun Bible clubs, in the New Mexico school nutrition organizations and worked part time for the state PED to implement the latest federal guidelines for school lunch programs. Services will be Wednesday July 30, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5 Entrada Del Note Edgewood, NM. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers. Services in Fort Wayne, Indiana: Services will be held Friday, August 8, 2014 at 3:00 in the afternoon at St Peter's Lutheran Church, 7710 E State Blvd in Fort Wayne, IN prior to internment in the St Peters Lutheran Church cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or St Peter's Lutheran Church building fund in lieu of flowers.
