Rhianwen Mai Gerard passed away on Wednesday evening, the 4th of April 2018. She was born Rhianwen Mai Roberts on May 21, 1923 in the town of Abercynon in the country of Wales to Robert Roberts and Hannah Humphreys.
Rhianwen met her future husband, George Gerard, when he was an American soldier in the 2nd World War. In 1947, they married and moved to New Mexico. George and Rhianwen had three children: Valerie Gerard Dillon, of Albuquerque a Medical Doctor and wife of Stephen Dillon and mother of Cariad Dillon Owen; Morgan Gerard of Santa Fe, an Environmental Engineer and husband of Doris Gerard and father of Trefor and Rhys Gerard; Lastly, Robert Gerard of Chaparral, an Agricultural Consultant.
Rhianwen Mai Gerard had a full and happy life. She loved the outdoors and good conversation. She was an avid traveler, writer, poet, artist, runner, walker, cook, and singer. Most importantly, she was a good friend.
A memorial service will take place on Friday, April 27, 2018, 11:30 a.m., at FRENCH – University. Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m.
