Reverend Tommy G. Crider

d. March 14, 2019

Reverend Tommy G. Crider received his eternal reward, March 14, 2019.   He was born November 4, 1930, in Post, Texas to W.C. and Josie Crider.  The family relocated to the Estancia Valley six months following to begin a life of farming and ranching.   Tommy grew up in New Mexico, attended local schools, and started his own ranch following high school.  He met his wife Linda and they were married 52 years before her passing in 2002.  In April of 1953, he attended a church service at First Assembly of God in Mountainair and committed his life to Christ.  Shortly after he and his wife felt a call to ministry, sold the ranch and began a life of full time ministry and service to the local church and community.  He was an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God Fellowship for over 58 years and during this time served as lead pastor of churches in Socorro, Milan, Aztec, Alamogordo, Lubbock Texas, Farmington and Los Lunas.   He completed his studies through NM State University and Berean School of the Bible.

Pastor Crider also served his denomination in numerous positions including District Youth Director 1963-1967, and Sectional Presbyter in the SW and NW areas.  He was elected to the office of District Secretary Treasurer of the NM Assemblies of God in 1979 where he served in this capacity, in the Albuquerque office, until his retirement in 2003.  He was a General Presbyter of the national Assemblies of God, served on SAGU and AIC college boards, and was a founding board member of Teen Challenge of New Mexico.

After retiring he returned to his roots of ranching in Estancia.  He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.   He is survived by his wife Betty of sixteen years; his daughter, Devonna Crider-Cummins and grandson, Conner both of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Makahla and Cody Thomason of Albuquerque; son, Daron Crider, of Plano, Texas; step-sons, Ron and Karen Cunningham of Norman, Oklahoma; Keith and Janet Cunningham of Gretna Nebraska; five granddaughters; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of who he loved greatly!

Pastor Crider was a man after God’s heart.  He dedicated his life to helping and serving others, and was passionate about building fellow ministers, churches, and God’s kingdom.  He will be greatly missed!
