Rev. Donald J. Starkey

Rev. Donald J. Starkey, Age 93, died Friday, January 1, 2016. He is survived by his siblings, Theresa Ellen Glascock, Benjamin T. Starkey and wife Jan, and John E. Starkey and wife, Linda; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. Born in 1922 near O'Fallon, IL, Don attended Central Catholic High in San Antonio before earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rice University in Houston, TX. He proudly served in the United States Navy for three years during WWII. Father Starkey completed his seminary studies in Rome and was ordained in July 1952 for service in the Diocese of Galveston-Houston. In 1966, he was transferred to service in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, where he worked full time in the Bishop's office and assisted on weekends at Our Lady of Fatima and John XXIII Parishes and other duties until his retirement. Father Starkey was a loving brother, uncle and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the Rosary to be recited Thursday, January 14, 2016, 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 15, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM 87110 with Private interment to take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
