In the early morning hours on Monday, February 28, 2022, Rene Marie Hanosh passed peacefully at the age of 97.
Rene was born in Rochester, NY to Ameen Gannam and Melvina Bwarie Gannam. Her parents moved the family to Southern California, where she met her future husband, Elias Lee Hanosh. They married April 21, 1946, in California and moved to New Mexico, where they resided together until Lee’s death in 1984.
Rene was preceded in death by her husband, Elias Lee Hanosh; daughter, Jane Marie Hanosh; and son-in-law, Michael Brown. She is survived by her four children, Carol Brown, Don Hanosh (Terri), Denise Vandam (Rick), Paula Koller (Mike); and her brother, Marvin Gannam (Janet). Rene is also survived by her grandchildren, Shawn, Greg (Heather), Danny (Camille), Ashley, Eli (Yasmin), Lindsay, Dawn (Alex), Lauren (Legacy), Jared, Scott (Becca), Dan (Kim), and Brett (Kellie); as well as 17 great-grandchildren.
Though Rene will be remembered for the gracious hostess and extraordinary cook that she was, as well as her dance moves, and singing along with her Rod Stewart cd’s. She would want to be remembered for the immense love she had for her children, grand and great-grandchildren. She was happiest when surrounded by family. This love was reciprocated and reflected in the tender and compassionate care she was given, especially during the last years of her life. This is her legacy. She loved deeply and was deeply loved in return.
We are most grateful to the staff and caregivers at Watermark Assisted Living and Ambercare, who gave more than what was required to make sure Rene was comfortable, often coming in just to give her a hug and spend time with her. Our love and appreciation go out to Shawn and Ashley for the love, care, and devotion they showered upon their grandmother.
A Rosary and Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, 10:30 at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Lomas and Tennessee. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
