Rebecca E. Ayoub

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rebecca E. Ayoub, who peacefully departed from her loving family to join the Lord on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the age of 70. As the eldest of three children, she was born to Edward J. and Carmen Y. Ayoub on February 12, 1953, in El Paso, Texas. She then became a part of a large and very loving extended family and has since held a special place in their hearts.

Rebecca was a devout Catholic. She received the sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation in the Roman Catholic Church. Her education began at St. Patrick's School and Church, where she journeyed from kindergarten to 8th grade. Afterward, she graduated as a proud Panther from Austin High School in 1971.

Her family and friends are eternally grateful for her beautiful life. Those who cared about her will keep her loving memory in their hearts and find solace in the knowledge that her spirit now rests in heaven. Continually facing the trials encountered by someone living with mental health challenges, Rebecca's life was complicated. On the one hand, she needed to be cared for; on the other hand, she cared about, and as much as possible, took care of others.

Throughout her life's journey, Rebecca was surrounded and protected by people who loved her. In the tapestry of her life, she embraced the sacred bond of shared laughter, conversations, and cherished hours spent in the company of loved ones, savoring each moment as an irreplaceable gift and memory. Her family, extended family and friends, bestowed upon her a love and kindness that knew no bounds. Their unwavering support and affection are a testament to the countless blessings that graced Rebecca's life. Many of her cousins continue to carry forward the torch of love for her.

Rebecca's loyalties extended far beyond her immediate circle. Organizations and individuals benefited from her selfless contributions. She dedicated her time and energy to volunteer work at El Paso High School's library and various charitable organizations, her favorite being the Red Cross. In later years, she wholeheartedly cared for her mother, accompanying her through physical ailments while cherishing their precious moments together. Rebecca's heart was ever-so-eager to assist the elderly, particularly those residing in her neighborhood.

She loved to walk and would frequently be seen walking to church and restaurants, pushing along her mother's wheelchair and sharing in the day. Rebecca also had a group of friends who were quite serious about their daily walks. This went on for many years until one by one, they passed on to their next life.

With tender affection, we remember Rebecca, lovingly referred to as Becky, who held an unwavering adoration for her feline companions. Throughout her remarkable journey, she was blessed with the cherished company of several beloved feline companions, including the playful "Mew-Mew," the loyal Tom, and the gentle Flojerito, while leaving behind her precious feline friend, Zorro.

Her life's tapestry was woven with love and devotion, and as she departs this earthly realm, she reunites with her devoted parents, Edward J. and Carmen Y. Ayoub, as well as countless cherished relatives who preceded her in death. While she leaves behind a multitude of individuals whose lives were intertwined with hers, none held a more profound place in her heart than her beloved daughter, Rachel Nadine-her greatest love, pride, and joy. Her love and kinship lives on through her brother, Eddie W. Ayoub and sister-in-law, Marianne Ayoub; her sister, Cynthia A. Larson and brother-in-law, Norman B. Larson; and the cherished nieces and nephews who brought immense happiness to her life: Matthew E. Ayoub, Meagan R. Ayoub, Marina K. Larson, and Nathan B. Larson. Ultimately, countless more loving relatives and friends, too numerous to name individually, will forever preserve her memory in their hearts.

Rebecca's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Share Your Care Adult Day Services and the exceptional staff who provided unwavering support and care throughout the years. Our sincerest appreciation goes to Joan Bergeron, who walked alongside Rebecca from the beginning of her Share Your Care Journey. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the Rio Transit staff and their drivers for their patience and kindness. To all the caregivers who touched Rebecca's life, we are forever grateful, with a special mention of Rebecca's personal caregiver, Dani Dudley, who attended to Rebecca's needs for approximately the last two years and remained by her side until the end of her earthly journey. Our fondest appreciation goes out to Rebecca's neighbor, Angel, who for many years, kept an eye on Becky's wellbeing. Finally, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Monsignor Raun. Rebecca admired his inspiring sermons and cherished the meaningful conversations they shared after church.

On Tuesday, June the 6th, 2023, FRENCH - Westside. A slideshow shall begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary and eulogies at 6:00 p.m. There will not be a viewing.
