Raymond R. Cummings, 84, passed away Monday, November 2, 2015. Born August 17, 1931 in Portland, Oregon, Raymond was the son of the late Claude and Thelma Cummings. He married the love of his life, Becky, on November 25, 1988. Ray was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother and grandfather. His impact on this world is evident by all the grieving hearts he left behind.
Ray is survived by his wife, Rebecca; children, Christine and husband, Mark Phifer, Victoria Cummings and Randall Cummings and wife, Lyn; stepchildren, Mark Minhinnick and wife Tammy and Melissa Minhinnick; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and his cousin, Wanda Werth. He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Thelma, and his brother, Ron.
He attended North Salem High School and Western Oregon University, where he was a star football player. In his early years, he proudly served as a police officer. Most of his professional career was spent as an agent and superintendent for State Farm Insurance.
His warm smile and charming sense of humor was infectious. Ray will be sorely missed by his family, friends and colleagues, whose lives he touched in so many ways. A special thanks to Ray's oldest and dearest friend, Arthur Teague, who was always there for Ray and ready for the next round of golf.
Ray's compassion and desire to positively influence and enhance the lives of children led him to become a member of Kiwanis. He was a charter member of the Kiwanis of the West Side, where, over the years, he served in the capacity as President, Vice President and Secretary.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Rio Rancho. Expressions of sympathy can be made by donations to Kiwanis of the West Side, PO Box 65811, Albuquerque, NM 87193.
