Raymond Cole Borba

On September 11, 2019, Raymond took his last breath with us. He was only 27 years old.

Born January 18, 1992, Raymond was the fourth and last child born to Tavio and Terry Borba. Raymond was born in Merced, CA and raised in Gustine, graduating from Gustine High School in 2010. He was always adventurous so the idea of moving to New Mexico was attractive and he did this in 2013 where he lived until his untimely death. Raymond fought a short but strong and brave battle with cancer. Diagnosed in March of 2019 he looked cancer right in its face and never flinched. Raymond took this horrible hand he was dealt and did everything asked of him.

Raymond was strong, smart, kind, generous and understanding. He loved life and all that came his way. He enjoyed family and friends, taking his jeep out to the Mesa, going to the mountains, cooking, gaming, hanging out with his special girl, Hannah (his Great Dane) and having a fun time. He worked hard and played harder. For such a short time on this earth, he touched so many. Always ready to listen and always ready to help. The days will be a little less bright and the nights a lot quieter. We will honor you Raymond the way you deserve. Sleep in peace and thank you for 27 of the best years of our lives.

Raymond was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Howard and Chiyoko Sager of Dos Palos, CA; his paternal grandfather, Joe Borba of Los Banos, CA and his great uncle, Leonard Sager of Palm Springs, CA.

He leaves behind his parents, Tavio and Terry Borba of Gustine, CA.; his sister, Jessica (Chris) Ciolkosz of Tracy, CA.; his brother, Tavio (Norma) Borba of Rio Rancho, NM; his sister, Raquel (Chris) Medeiros of Gustine, CA., his niece, Vivian Ciolkosz; his nephew, John Borba; his paternal grandmother, Alda Borba of Los Banos, CA.; Dave Houge of Palm Springs, CA.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be held in both New Mexico and California.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 16, 2019, from 4:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service to follow at 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Westside.


A Funeral Service will be held in California on Monday, September 23, 2019, with services beginning at 9:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Miracles at 370 Linden Ave. Gustine, CA. Interment to follow at Hills Ferry Cemetery, Newman, CA.
