Raymond Anthony Romero

Raymond Anthony Romero, 78, lifelong resident of Cibola County, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022. Ray was born on Thursday, July 22, 1943, to Antonio and Sofia (Chavez) Romero in Moquino, NM, and grew up on the Seboyeta Land Grant. Ray retired after 30+ years with the NM State Highway Department. He was known for his caring nature and his love for family, friends, and music.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Romero and Sofia (Chavez) Romero; his brother, Ruben Romero; sister, Lynn (Romero) Baca; and infant son, Martin Ray.  He is survived by son, Jon Romero (Rachel); daughter, Robin (Romero) Miranda (Peter); his life partner, Bertha Chavez; daughters, Tyra Chavez, Traci (Chavez) McAdams (Scott), and Tenille (Chavez) Zaher (Joe). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kade Miranda, Jenna Romero, Logan Miranda, Keely Romero, Jacee Miranda, Roman McAdams, Liam McAdams, Jennifer (McAdams) Gallegos (Jose), Blake McAdams, Maroun Zaher, and Kyana Sanchez Rodarte; as well as great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Juliette Gallegos.  Other survivors include his sisters, Rosalie Gonzales (Herman) and Eloisa Thompson (Emmett); brother, Gilbert Romero (Maryanne); sister-in-law, Sue Romero; brother-in-law, Anthony Baca; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

A Rosary will be recited for Ray at St. Teresa Avila Catholic Church in Grants, NM, on Friday, June 10, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Seboyeta, NM, on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at the Seboyeta Cemetery.  Honorary Pallbearers are members of The Old Timers Band. A Reception will be held at the Michael Bed and Breakfast in Bibo, NM, following the burial.
