Raquel Maria (Rachel) Maldonado went to be with Our Lord Jesus on March 26, 2016. Rachel was born in Juan Tomas, NM on May 20, 1923. She was the youngest of nine children and last surviving child of Francisquita and Erineo Nieto.
Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Nasario Maldonado; three daughters, Joyce Delgado, Bertha Mora and Charlotte Griego; and her grandson, Jerrod Maldonado.
She is survived by seven daughters, Elvira Soto (Luis), Anabel Sanchez, Lorraine Marquez, Angela Marquez (Julian), Bernice Gutierrez, Bettie Jean Garcia (LeRoy) and Merlinda Aragon (Nick); and three sons, Nasario Maldonado, Jr. (Susan), Ere Anthony Maldonado (Alberta) and Mike Maldonado (Alice). She is also survived by 48 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Tocha and Mickey.
The Rosary will be recited on Thursday, March 31, 2016, 6:00 p.m., at San Jose Parish, 2401 Broadway Blvd. SE. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 1, 2016, 10:00 a.m., at San Jose Parish. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers are Raymond Romero, Jr., Marcial Sanchez, Michael Mora, Paul Marquez, Gil Delgado and Julian Maldonado. Honorary pallbearers are Vincent Marquez, Johnathon Garcia, Isaac Maldonado, Nicholas Aragon, Ere Maldonado, Jr., Adam Maldonado and Leanna Maldonado.
