Raquel Dusenbery passed away on October 21, 2015 after unexpected complications during the birth of her baby girl, Emma. Raquel was 39 years old.
Raquel was born in Dallas, Texas on March 9, 1976. Very early in life, she demonstrated an inclination to selflessly help others. Her compassion and desire to improve the world influenced her decision to become a registered nurse in 1996. She believed her calling was to work in the emergency room and utilized her career to help the sick, mentor coworkers, and spread the word of God. On July 18, 2010 she married the love of her life, Matthew Dusenbery. Raquel's mission in life extended past humanity. She was an active advocate for animals, and believed her puppies were her children. She enjoyed the outdoors, primarily walking and hiking the trails surrounding their new home. One of her favorite activities was enjoying a cup of coffee while tending to her plants. She loved to cook and bake, and especially to eat, finishing a meal and planning the next. This was never more evident than while she was pregnant!
Above all things, Raquel had immeasurable faith in Jesus. This faith sustained her through the many trials she and Matt faced while trying to have a child.
Raquel's impact on this world is evident by all the grieving hearts she leaves behind. She is survived by her husband: Matthew Dusenbery, her daughter: Emma Raquel, her parents: Jose and Rosa Ortalejo, her sister: Josie Cooper, her brothers: Jose and Esteban Ortalejo, five nieces, three nephews, two spoiled dogs, her new family in Colorado, and countless friends in Monahans, TX, Myrtle Beach, SC and Albuquerque, NM.
