Ramona B. (Chavez) Paster

Ramona B. Paster passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on Sunday, August 16, 2020. She was born in Los Sauces, CO but lived most of her life in New Mexico.

Ramona and her late husband, Phil Paster, were possibly the first in New Mexico to venture into the windshield repair business specializing in the repair of small cracks in the glass rather than the replacement of the entire windshield. They sold their business and retired in 1986.

Ramona and Phil traveled to many foreign countries in their middle age. She especially loved sea cruises the best. They also traveled the United States in an RV that she maintained meticulously.

Ramona enjoyed classes in arts and crafts as taught in Albuquerque senior centers. She made everything from turquoise jewelry to pottery. Her forte was quilting and knitting. She made numerous blankets that she gifted to family and friends. Ramona’s greatest joy was her grandchildren about whom she spoke often and glowingly with the widest smile.

Ramona was a dynamo of energy, never wanting to waste a moment. Even while watching TV, which she did sparingly, she would knit. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Josephine Chavez; sister, Ella; brothers, Bonny and Tommy Chavez; daughter, Yolanda Hollocker; grandsons, Derrick Herrera and Dennis Hadley; and son-in-law, Manuel Jaramillo.

She is survived by children, AnnaLee Jaramillo, John and wife, Diane Naranjo, and Lucy and husband, Sam Herrera. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Advantage Assisted Living for all the love and care they gave Ramona. Also, to Hospice for their guidance in preparing us for mom’s final hours.

The Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Mass at 10:15 a.m., at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd NW.
