Ramon was born in Anton Chico, NM to Severo Mondragón and Lucia Mondragon Carillo. He is preceded in death by his son, Ramon D. Mondragón; his mother and father; sister, Marcella Johnson; and brother, Peter Mondragón.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 66 years, Prudencia Perea Mondragón; his children, Theresa Adams (Mack), Carmela Mondragón, Mark Mondragón (Claudia Alleano), John Mondragón, Martha Mo ndragón-Guerin (Paul), Maria Mondragón (Scott Anderson); grandchildren, Natalia Fierro (Belle), George Evans (Caitlin), Danielle Adams (Alex Morris), Rachel Mondragón King (Nick), Alex Evans, Francisco Raby Mondragón, Dominic Guerin, Alma Mondragón, Stella Anderson, Christina Guerin, Ema Mondragón, and Martha Anderson, and great-grandchildren, K-Lee, Levi, Reese, Jordan, Diego, Gage and Deaglan.
He will also be missed by his sisters, Stephanie Bradshaw, Loretta Alvarez; brothers, Fred Mondragón (Connie) and Roberto Mondragón; his many "favorite" nieces and nephews; and his two "favorite" sisters-in-law, Palmira Perea-Hay and Beatrice Aragon.
Ramon graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1956 and served in the United States Marine Corp before earning his BS degree in Electrical Engineering. He retired early after a 35-year career working for the Federal Aviation Administration.
Ramon and Prudy were active in their Catholic parish where he was a lector, served various roles on the Parish Council, as a catechist, youth group leader, and with Search and the Cursillo ministries. Ramon was involved in Toastmasters International for many years and served as District Governor. He was active in the Democratic Party and assisted in many local and national elections. Ramon was a volunteer with the Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau and enjoyed being a tour guide. Ramon was an avid runner and loved running with family and friends. He competed in many marathons and races, winning the La Luz trail race in his age group.
Ramon was incredibly spirited, funny, and energetic and was a master of the Dad Joke. He was passionate about life and loved everything he gave to it and everything life gave to him. He enthusiastically cheered on his children and grandchildren during their sports and many other activities. He made a memorable impression on everyone who met him and will be so very greatly missed.
