Ralph David Hutchison

Ralph D. Hutchison, Jr., age 91, passed away November 12, 2017. He was born August 15, 1926, to Ralph D. and Blanche (Rucker) Hutchison, in Amistad, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years, Mary; and his brother, Edward Hutchison of Alaska.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathryn Westerfield and husband, David of Albuquerque, Linda Haltom and husband, Robert of Olympia, WA and Terry Shoemaker of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Christopher Haltom, Amy Westerfield, Paul Haltom, Ian Shoemaker and Hayley Davis; and four great-grandchildren.

Ralph, or ‘Hutch’, was in construction most of his life, and a long-time business man in Albuquerque, selling building materials to contractors around the state. Assisted by his wife, Mary, he built nearly every house they lived in, even letting the grandkids “help” occasionally. He made their house a home in every sense of the word. The family wishes to express its deep gratitude to Life Spire Assisted Living in Rio Rancho and Ambercare Hospice for all the kindness and care they so generously provided him.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, November 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, with Rev. David Okerberg officiating.
