Porfiria “Rose” Amberg, 87, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother was called to her eternal resting place in Heaven next to her husband of almost 60 years on Tuesday, March 15th, 2022.
Rose was born Tuesday, February 26th, 1935 in San Luis Colorado to Rogerio and Alberta (Ortega) Olivas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Amberg, as well as her brothers, Joe and Gabriel. She is survived by her daughter, Karen; son, Brian and wife Jocelyn; grandchildren, Caitey and husband Erich, Cassey, Crissey and Caleb and wife Emilia; and her great-granchildren, Emmy and Tate. Rose is also survived by her siblings, Frieda, Lori, Max and Abie.
Rose grew up in Albuquerque and graduated from Albuquerque High School, class of 1954. She met Ron when he was stationed in Moriarty while in the Air Force. They married in Hibbing, Minnesota on June 18th, 1956 and resided in Minnesota until relocating back to New Mexico in 1982. Rose was an educational assistant at Manzano High School for nearly 20 years before retiring.
Rose enjoyed gardening, and always grew the best cucumbers and tomatoes. She was very generous with the vegetables she grew, and would give them out to all, including the mailman. Rose also loved tending to her flowers, especially her roses. Rose loved to cook, especially for her family, and loved to try out new recipes. Because she was retired, Rose had the ability to take her four grandchildren to school every single day for almost ten years. She truly enjoyed making breakfast with her grandchildren and prided herself on teaching them how to make pancakes (with chocolate chips of course).
