Porfiria Medina Mascareñas, age 91, passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family.
She was born in Llano de San Juan Nepomuceno to Onesimo and Fidencia Medina.
She was preceded by her parents: Onesimo and Fidencia Medina; sister, Patrocina Medina; brother, Nelson Medina; son, Roland Mascarenas; grandsons, Joshua Hinchberger and Anthony Lucero; brothers-in-law, Ernest Martinez and Joshua Lopez.
She is survived by her husband: Joe Cipriano Mascareñas; daughter, LouElla Mascarenãs; daughter, Louise Sedillo and husband Manuel; daughter, Nura English and husband Earl; Judy Mascareñas; Marvin Mascareñas and his wife Loretta Arguello; Cipriano Jr. Mascareñas and his wife Sandra; Dennis Mascareñas and his wife, Linda; and Nelson Mascareñas and his wife Valerie.
Her sister Ruth Martinez; sister, Manuelita Lopez; sister, Claudinia Valdez and her husband Paul; sister Flora Quintana and her husband David.
14 grandchildren: Issac Sedillo and his wife Montana; Yvette Sedillo; Nicholas Mascareñas and his husband Matt; Brandon Mascareñas and his wife Betty; Matthew Mascareñas and his wife Amanda; Brittany Mascareñas; Samuel, Nicholas, Leah Mascareñas; Sarah, Levi Mascareñas; Lucas Arguello and his wife Bridgette; Anthony Lucero; and Eddie Trujillo.
12 great grandchildren: Lilly, Mikaya, Falcon & Oliva Sedillo; Graysen Hinchberger; Avery & Emmett Mascareñas; Brydon, Thaddeus, & Olivia Mascareñas; Travis & Logan Arguello.
Porfiria married Joe Cipriano Mascareñas in January 6,1951 and together they raised 9 children. They completed seventy years of marriage in January 6, 2021.
Her interests included family, gardening, singing, sewing, walking, and talking to her sisters on a weekly basis. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her mother until she passed away at the age of 89.
She was active member of Saint Bernadette Church for 45 years.
Porfiria was the wisest soul whose light reached and touched the lives of all who knew her. She was passionately devoted to her family. She was witty and deeply empathic. She asked for so little but gave so very much. She had a huge heart and a beautiful soul.
