Placida Gutierrez

Placida was born in Chilili NM on April 17, 1945, to Pedro and Manuelita Gutierrez. She peacefully fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on July 9, 2023. Oh, what a beautiful Sunday morning in heaven this must have been for our Beloved Placida.

She was faithful to her Catholic Religion and very devoted to our Blessed Mother Mary. Placida prayed the Holy Rosary daily and believed with all her heart that miracles happen every day. She taught many children in her community how to pray and always reminded everyone to have faith. Placida was a lifelong member of the choir at San Juan de Nepomuceno church in Chilili where her beautiful songs could be heard every Sunday morning. She loved listening to music as she would dance and sing along. Her baking was like no other, especially her homemade fudge which she would specifically make for anyone who was expecting a baby. She sure had a sweet tooth!

Placida loved her husband, Elias, very much. They were married on September 22, 1960, and were inseparable ever since. Their marriage was truly a testament of Love, Faith and Devotion. This was true until her last breath here on earth. She was a proud nana to Monica and soon to be a great-nana to Monica and Marcos baby boy. Her love, generosity and thoughtfulness will never be forgotten by all who knew and loved her. Placida was preceded in death by her mom and dad, Manuelita and Pedro; and her brothers, Tim, Eloy, Gilbert and Pedro Jr.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Elias Gutierrez; her brothers, Noe (Rose), Evey (Sarah), Richard (Veronica); her sisters, Lena, Ernestina, Mela (Mike) and many brothers and sisters-in-law, and countless nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Placida will be dearly missed.

Services will take place at Holy Child Catholic Church, 19 Camino del Santo Nino in Tijeras NM, on Thursday, July 20, 2023, with a rosary at 10:00 a.m. and Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Campo Santo de Chilili in Chilili NM.
Pallbearers will be Ramon Gutierrez, Fernando Gutierrez Jr., Pablo Gutierrez, Vicente Gutierrez, Danny Gutierrez and Tim Gutierrez Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Marcos Moya, Abraham Aragon, Abran Ortiz and Leroy Montano.
