Phyllis Carol (Gentry) Waldo

Phyllis Carol Gentry Waldo born: May 25, 1936 deceased: February 1, 2018.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her mother, Harriett Viola Childs Gentry, and her father, Roger Howard Gentry; and children, Leslie Lynn Waldo, baby girl Waldo, and baby boy Waldo.

She is survived by her brother, Roger Lee Gentry of Grass Valley California; son, Roger Bion Waldo and wife, Sandy of Summerdale Alabama; son, Lawrence Henry Waldo and wife, Lynne of Katy Texas; grandchildren, Christy Waldo Martinez, Ray Waldo, and Brandy Waldo of Bakersfield California, John Waldo and wife, Carla Waldo of Atascocita, Texas, and Amanda Waldo of Katy Texas; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Conner Martinez of Bakersfield California sons of Christy Martinez; niece’s Melissa Gentry O’Brien of Parkton Maryland, Erin Gentry of Durham England, Allison Gentry of Tigard Oregon; step-grandchildren, Mike Hess and wife, Doddy their children, Jordon, Mason and Cali of Elsanor Alabama, Terry Hess and wife, Kelly; their child, Samantha of New Port Beach California.

Phyllis was married for 34 years to Archie Waldo.

Mom traveled during her earlier years. She was born in Bakersfield California, and moved to Reno, Nevada in the late 1950’s, from there to Aurora, Colorado, Spokane, Washington, Ankara, Turkey, March Air Base in California, Clark Air Base, Angeles City, Philippines back to Aurora, Colorado,  and once again to Bakersfield, California, finally moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2005.

When mom moved to Albuquerque, she started to attend Sandia Church of the Nazarene with Anna Nash. She was an active member of the Church until her death. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for the church. For a time, she helped with the Thrift store in Rio Rancho.

I once described mom as a Wonderful Women with a little Quirkiness. She will be missed.

Memorial Service will be Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Sandia Church of the Nazarene, 8216 Central Ave SE, Albuquerque.
