Mrs. Phyllis Jane Hess died on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
She was born on Wednesday, September 29, 1937 in Lockport, NY. She was the daughter of the late John Edward Pecoraro and Helen Jean Dodge Pecoraro. She was the widow of Norman Groff Hess Jr. who preceded her on Friday, September 1, 2006, and she was preceded by her daughter Catherine Jane Trautman on Tuesday, November 4, 2008. Phyllis was also preceded by two brothers, Edward Anthony and John Francis Pecoraro. Phyllis was a homemaker who raised six children. She enjoyed visiting with family, playing bingo and watching her shows. Phyllis was a member of the DAR and American Legion in AZ, GA, and NM. She was a girl scout leader when her daughters were young in Niagara and Erie counties, NY. Phyllis and her husband Norman were full-time RVers for 12 years. She was a lifetime member of the Escapees RV Club, Good Sam Club and Passport America. She is survived by her children: Norman G. Hess III of Rio Rancho, NM, Russell (Sylvia) Hess of Las Vegas, NV, Marjorie Hess of Santa Fe, NM, Susan (John) Schall of Napa, CA and Michelle (Dave) Kennedy of Newberry, OR and a son-in law Albert Trautman Jr. of Buffalo, NY.; her grandchildren: Heidi (Khalil) Raki, Darin (Juliet) Hess, Jessica (Daniel) Snider, Lizabeth Covington, Joseph (Amy) Covington, Grant (Tiffanie) Hess, Kendra Covington, Cortney (Patrick) Painter and Ryan Kennedy; her great-grandchildren: Khalil Al Raki, Zaiyd Nour Raki, Aubrie Micole Collins, Samir Cadin Raki, Layla Hope Covington, Myra Jane Snider, Victoria Alyazia Hess, Lilly Ruth Covington, Grant Aiden Hess, and Rayden Eugene Matthew Johnson; her two sisters, Mary Margaret Payne of Ruskin, FL and Helen (Steve) Delahunt of Sun City Center, FL., as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be July 7, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home at 11 Collins St. Cartersville, GA, and Funeral Services will be July 8, 2023, from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Owen Funeral Home at 11 Collins St. Cartersville, GA, followed by a graveside prayer at Sunset Memory Gardens, 790 Indian Mound Rd., Cartersville, GA. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Disabled American Veterans at help.dav.org. Those who are attending visitation and/or services are invited to wear red, Phyllis' favorite color.
