Phyllis Lucille Gladden

d. November 4, 2015

Phyllis Lucille Boyd Gladden, 87, went to be with the Lord November 4, 2015. Phyllis was born in Lansing, Illinois on February 1,1928; the daughter of Phillip and Mary Boyd. At an early age her family moved to Indiana, and in 1938 they moved to Santa Fe, NM. Her father lost his life in a construction accident during the building of the original School for the Deaf. Her mother opened a cafe which was very popular with the truck driving community and had frequent visits from Ernie Pyle. Phyllis was fortunate to live in the house next door to Gustave Baumann, famous for his wood block prints and puppets. Living in Santa Fe is what most likely gave her the lifelong passion for gardens, art, antiques, and architecture. She met and married Edward Gladden in Albuquerque in 1948. She attended the University of NM later in her life, earning a Masters Degree in Art History. Phyllis served for decades on the Folk Art Museum and Fine Art Museum boards in Santa Fe, NM. She and Ed were avid world travelers.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Gladden Tate and husband, Jim, Julie Gladden Roskosh and husband, Gunter; her grandchildren, Jamie Jauriqui and husband, Manny, Anney Snyder and husband, Daniel, Meghan Tate and Hans Roskosh; great grandchildren, Moxie, Lyla, Macie, Harper and Luke loved her dearly. She is also survived by her brother, Fred M. Mossman Jr. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Edward and their son, Dodd Gladden. Private graveside services have been held at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
In memory of my our dear mother: "Nature is a revelation of God, art is a revelation of man" Longfellow. "If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need" author unknown. Tolkien once said, "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us." My grandmother lived an exciting life and anyone that knew her knows she did not waste any of the time she got. Miss you and love you Meme.
