It is with great sadness that the family of Phyllis June Garfield announces her passing on Monday, February 19th, 2018, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the age of 86.
Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her children, Leslie (Jack), Rand (Pam) and Gail. She will also be forever remembered by her six grandchildren, Angel, Jackie, Melissa, Josh, Chelsea (Ralph) and Nicole (Jordan); and great grandchildren, Trey, Trinity, Hailey, Reilly, Paisley, Elijah and Rhett. She is preceded in death by her husband for over 50 years, Duane Robert Garfield.
Phyllis was born on June 3rd, 1931, in Cambridge, Nebraska, to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kuhlman. She married the love of her life, Duane, on Friday, February 20th, 1953, at the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Collins, Colorado. In May of 1955, the couple welcomed the first of three children into their home, and they set about teaching them the importance of the golden rule; the value of giving someone their word; and being a strong, contributing member to society. Her children remember her as a spirited, devoted mother who always encouraged them to pursue their goals. Phyllis was accomplished at anything she put her mind to – bowling, stained glass designs, cross-stitching, painting, latch hook and many other artistic skills. She played a mean game of Hand and Foot, frequently besting family members who underestimated her skills. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family fiercely, and who was passionate about their future and anything she could do to be a positive influence in their lives.
