Born on June 30, 1956, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Philip Smith was a man whose life was defined by faith, service, and a passion for helping others. He was a devoted Christian, a seasoned attorney, and a beloved mentor to many.

Before pursuing his law career, Philip earned a Diploma in Welding Grades from Albuquerque Technical-Vocational Institute, showcasing his practical skills and dedication to hard work. He later went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Salisbury State University, where he nurtured his intellectual curiosity and love for learning. Following his undergraduate studies, Philip earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Maryland School of Law, where he developed a deep commitment to justice and the legal profession. After earning his law degree, Philip dedicated more than 30 years to his career as an attorney while he raised and provided for his family in Salisbury, Maryland. Known for his wisdom, integrity, and commitment to justice, he made a lasting impact on his community and the many clients he served over the years. His legal career was a testament to his unwavering work ethic and his deep sense of responsibility.

Philip's intellectual curiosity extended beyond academics, and he was always eager to explore new subjects and broaden his knowledge. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Philip became proficient in Spanish, a skill that served him well in his missionary work and in building relationships with people from all walks of life. For many years, he served in Guatemala, where he shared the gospel, worked on community projects, and touched countless lives with his kindness and faith. His mission work was a cornerstone of his life, and he always believed in the power of service to others.

A passionate coach, Philip also inspired and mentored countless young people, helping them develop both on the field and in life. His guidance, encouragement, and belief in their potential made a profound impact on many, and he cherished the relationships he built through coaching.

In recent years, Philip resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he lovingly cared for his elderly parents, Bob and Dorothy Smith. His family was his greatest joy, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication that will be remembered forever. Philip is survived by his parents, Bob and Dorothy Smith; his brothers, David and Bobby Smith; his ex-wife and mother of his children, Robin Smith; his son, Matthew Smith, daughter-in-law, Crystal Smith, and grandson, Everett; and his daughter, Olivia Smith.

As a father, son, and grandfather, Philip Smith leaves behind a lasting legacy of faith, service, and love, and his memory will live on in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Philip will be remembered for his immense love, his thirst for knowledge, and his unwavering commitment to lifting others up. He will be deeply missed, but his light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew him.
