Philip Hedrich, 88, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2021 surrounded by his family.
Phil was born in Upper Darby, PA to Philip and Laura Hedrich. He earned his degree in Economics from Miami University in Oxford, OH where he met and married Madeline. He enlisted in the US Air Force where his love and passion for flying was born. Upon completion of his military service, Phil became a career businessman in the insurance industry, which took him and his family to CO and finally NM. He was a proud US Air Force veteran and Army National Guard volunteer. In his retirement, he continued his passion for flying by serving his community with the New Mexico Wing Civil Air Patrol.
Phil’s desire to be a humanitarian in all aspects in his life was evident in his interactions with all walks of people. He didn’t know a stranger. He had a quick wit, a gentle manner, a positive attitude, and constant gratitude in life. He had endured the ravages of aging with his characteristic good nature and we are grateful that he is free from the worn out body that trapped his joyful spirit.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Madeline Hedrich; his children Philip (Son) and Laurie; Shawn (Son); Kimberly (Daughter) and Ray Turner; Jennifer (Daughter) and Robert Gjullin; grandchildren Marc, AJ, Kevin, Nathan, Struever, Aaron and Emma; and great-grandchildren Teddy and Penny. He also leaves many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Committal Service will be held Thursday, August 19, 2021, 9:45 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to NM Wing CAP, https://www.nmwg.cap.gov/
