Philip Jeff Barott, 80, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away at his home on Friday, June 5, 2015. Phil is survived by his wife Jana of 58 years, son Bryan and his wife Alisa, daughters Brynne Badeaux, Jill and her husband Jon Kuncel, Diana and her husband, Stephen Turney, and Colette Barott. He is also survived by his sister Adele and her husband Al Devlin, and his loving grandchildren: Nicole, her husband David Gifford; Amelia, her husband Kenny Adkins, Phil and Dave Barott, Paul, Alexander and Madeleine Turney, and great grandchildren: Israel, Elisabeth, and Destiny Gifford, and Kainan and Kasen Adkins. Phil served in the military retiring as a colonel in the Air Force after 24 years of distinguished service. He was a fighter pilot serving in Vietnam, and as the base commander of a remote USAF installation on Ascension Island off the coast of Africa. After working as an aerospace engineer he retired and quickly fell into a life marked by spending time with Jana and enjoying his garden, fishing, woodworking and helping any and all who needed him. He volunteered with the Civil Air Patrol, and helped to design the median landscaping found in the North East heights. Phil was a man of faith who loved his church - St. Paul's United Methodist Church. He volunteered as the Chair of the Finance Committee as well as serving a term as the leader of the Church Council. Phil started the St. Paul's UMC Men's Group, was the head usher and served as the Chartered Organizational Representative for the Boy Scout troop sponsored by the church. Phil was an active member of the congregation of St. Paul's for over 40 years. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's UMC, 9500 Constitution Ave. NE. Phil will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe with full honors.
