Pepa Aragon Brown

March 6, 1947 — July 22, 2024

Pepa Aragon Brown, our family matriarch and devoted mother and grandmother, passed away on July 22, 2024, at the age of 77. This date also marked the seventh anniversary of her husband Jeremy Brown's passing. May they be reunited in the universe, embracing and holding each other's hands as they watch over us.

She was born to Adan Aragon and Trinidad Peralta in El Cerro, Valencia County, in 1947. She grew up in El Cerro and spent most of her life in the South Valley and Tijeras before living her final years proudly and independently in the Northeast Heights of Albuquerque.

Pepa was the fourth eldest of eleven children and was devoted to her family. She took pride in her family's ancestral roots in New Mexico, which date back to the 1700s.

She dedicated her career to advocating for children with disabilities and at-risk youth. A published writer, she worked in special education and retired from Albuquerque Public Schools.

In her retirement, she passed on traditions and stories to her great-grandchildren and continued to impact all who she encountered, serving as a guiding light for anyone in need.

She is survived by her children, Denise Aragon, Davin Peralta, and Felix Peralta; her grandchildren, Alicia Aragon, Laura Peralta, Justine Peralta, and Matthew Peralta; and her great-grandchildren, Alexis Rock, Cadence Peralta, and Lilah, Audrey, and Penelope Vigil. She is also survived by her sisters, Lupe Garcia, Sophie Romero, and Dora Clause, and her brothers, Henry and Robert Aragon.

Pepa was a loving and generous person, always wanting to take care of those around her, and was loved by all who knew her. She will be remembered by her family for her devotion to her daughter, sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
