Peter Little

January 4, 1937 — October 1, 2020

Peter Little, age 83, beloved spouse, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend was called to his eternal resting place on Thursday, October 1, 2020. Peter passed the way he lived, with courage, dignity, and an abundance of love in his heart.

Peter was a humble, self-disciplined man with an enormous heart. He always had a listening ear for anyone in need. This included family, friends, and strangers. Peter had a wise and nonjudgmental nature that drew people to him for counsel, but he never gave advice. Instead, Peter listened with his heart and gently led people to find their own answers and solutions.

Peter had a fire in his belly for social justice. Despite his peaceful nature, he would debate anyone, anytime, anywhere on social issues. Peter was a devoted Christian who taught by example and had a passion for equity. He will be remembered fondly.

Peter entered this world on January 4, 1937, in Santa Fe, NM, born to Bernard and Ernestine Little. He is survived by his spouse of 55 years, Charlotte Little; daughters, and son in-laws, Karen and Fred DiaGiacomo and Teresa and David Little-Gardiner; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Charlotte Little; sister and brother-in-law, Annette and Bob House; and sister, sister Juanita.

Peter will be remembered and celebrated by his cherished grandchildren, Chris DiaGiacomo, Annette DiaGiacomo, Toni Lynn DiaGiacomo, Melanie Phillips, Emy Savedra, Jennifer Gardiner, Matthew Gardiner, Jacob Robertson, Taylor Robertson, Jordan Robertson, Zachary Robertson, and Ryan Gardiner. Peter’s memory will live on in his great-grandchildren, Michael DiaGiacomo, Lindzie Gunnik, Ahlula DiaGiacomo, Logan DiaGiacomo, Olivia Wiggins, Cole Wiggins, Nathan Phillips, Jeremiah Phillips, and Issac Phillips.

Peter’s wish is that we would all remain safe and COVID free. For that reason, the eulogy will be live streamed and people who choose to attend services in person are asked to wear a mask and abide by safe social distancing practices. The family will host a celebration of life as soon as it is safe to gather.

In lieu of flowers, Pete’s wish is that donations be made to St. Kateri Tekakwitha Scholarship Fund, Archdiocese of Santa Fe c/o Shirley Zuni, Director of Native American Ministry at 4000 St. Joseph Place NW. Catholic education was highly valued by Pete and his wish will directly impact the lives of our native children.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 12, 2020, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Westside. A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, 10:00 a.m. with a Mass to follow at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, at 1001 Meteor Ave. NE Rio Rancho. He will be laid to rest at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
