Peter Victor Leyba Sr.

Peter Victor Leyba, Sr., 66, of Albuquerque, NM. unexpectedly passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024, in his home, surrounded by his family. Peter Leyba was born February 11, 1958, in Gonzales Ranch, NM. He had been a resident of Albuquerque for 45 years.

He was a Journeyman Pipe-fitter for over 20 years and recently retired from Albuquerque Public School, as Head Custodian at Freedom High. He was a hard worker, provider, and man of God. He was an active member of his church. He and his wife Mary Lou led the prayer meetings. He had a big heart and was a person you could count on and he was always willing to help his family, friends, and neighbors. He loved to play his guitar and sing with his family. He was a jokester and liked to make people laugh.

His Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Leyba; children Petrita Leyba and fiance Robert Dominguez, Jessica Leyba, Victor P. Leyba, Jr. and wife Leah Leyba of Albuquerque, NM. Step-Children Danielle Silva husband Sean Silva, John Gutierrez wife Linda Gutierrez, and honorary daughter Jasmine Jackson. Grandchildren; Serenity, Ieisha, Trinity, Azhsh, Ezekiel, Cataleya, Arlo, James, Nathan, Hailey, and Jacob. Great-grandchildren; Azias and Great Granddaughter arriving in February 2025. Mother of his children; Brigida Segura Leyba. He is also survived by three sisters, Mary (Toby) Lucero, Rita (Ubaldo) Madrid, and Carmen (Bob) Moore, and seven brothers Mike (Lucy), Jessie, Percy (Laverne), Phillip (Audrey), Steven (Lorie), Raymond (Tina), Ruben, and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; Miguel S. Leyba and Petrita Guerin Leyba. Three brothers Felix Leyba, Joseph Leyba, and Henry Roger Leyba, and three sisters Dorothy Leyba, Rosalie Leyba, and Lucy Leyba. Peter Victor Leyba, Sr. was a wonderful man and will be missed by many.

Viewing and Rosary will be held at French Funerals & Cremation on Thursday, November 7th, 2024 at  5:30pm. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, November 8th, 2024 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 9:00am.
