Peter (Pete) S. Carlson, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away peacefully in his home Monday, November 29, 2021. Pete was born on December 21, 1942 and was 78 at the time of his passing.
Pete had a zest for life, enjoyed every day as a new adventure and ventured into quite a variety of interests. Pete served his country as a Marine; then, after successful careers through mid-life, Pete became a renowned author (They Spoke for the People), film producer, documentarian, and historian.
His mission statement (

and our testimonial reflect his passions . . . his efforts focused on preserving and archiving the wisdom and talent of Blues Music Icons and Native American Elders. Some of the Blues talents included the likes of Jr. Wells, Pinetop Perkins, Son Seals, Bobby Rush and Magic Slim. Native American Elders included Jim Gillihan, Grandmother Kee and Sioux historian Eagleman Ed McGaa. These are to name but just a few. All of these incredible people drew Pete into their circle of trust; due to his genuine, gentle, giving and loving manner.
In 2008 Pete was nominated for a Grammy and 2 BMA (Handy's) awards for his Blues CD's and DVD's on Pinetop Perkins and Son Seals.
He is survived by a brother Paul and many who were fortunate to call him friend. He was preceded in death by his father, Eric Thor; and by his mother, Loretta Barnes.
