Pete Vigil SR, July 17, 1936-May 10, 2016
Pete Vigil SR, 79, was called into the arms of our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 10, 2016.
Pete is preceded in death by his father, Louis Vigil; mother, Precilliana T. Vigil; and sister, Ramie V. Montoya. Pete is survived by his loving wife, Loretta Herrera-Vigil; children, Pete Vigil Jr (Julie), Debbie Molina, Yolanda Gonzales (Manuel), Mike Vigil (Joanne), Paul Vigil (Richard), and Maria (Robert); 16 precious grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; sister, Lizzy Montoya (Henry); brother, Louie Vigil, (Eieene); and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Pete was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps, serving in the Korean War. Pete was a member of the American Legion Post 69 where he served as Post Commander and District Commander. He was also a member of SNMde MP de Alameda, NM, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the DAV. One of Pete's many enjoyments was being a member of the Escobosa Riding Club, which he was a member of for 48 years, riding his horse in parades and rodeo grand entries. Pete enjoyed working on cars and his yard, but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with family and friends, telling stories, and enjoying a beer.
Viewing will be Sunday, May 15, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 1860 Griegos Rd. NW with a Rosary following at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Interment will follow on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 9:45 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pete's grandsons: Anthony Baros, Pedro Vigil III, Martin Vigil, Michael Vigil, Jr., Moises Molina, Andrew Baros, Robert Vigil, Jonathan Vigil and David Vigil. Honorary pallbearers will be the Members of the Escobosa Riding Club.
