Pete Smiley

Our most wonderful and precious son, Pete Smiley passed away on June 28, 2014, at the early age of 21. He was a passionate, kind, loving, and generous young man with a tremendous heart. He will be missed dearly. We will miss his beautiful smile, his commanding presence, his embracing hugs, and contagious laughter. Pete was an Animal Control Officer with Bernalillo County and loved his job; he earned the nickname Macgyver. He was devoted to taking care of animals who needed help, love, and attention. Throughout his lifetime, he brought home every stray dog he found. As we all know, his passion for animals was of the utmost priority. Pete had a compassionate heart, a loving personality, and was as handsome as James Dean. (Not Jim Beam) Pete had a passion and love for riding his motorcycle cruiser; he loved the feel of the wind on his skin and the freedom it brought him. He will forever be in our lives with memories to last us a lifetime. We will always remember him in the breeze that blows and the dogs that howl through the night. We love and miss you our sweet son, brother, godson, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend., Because you never left without telling us how much you loved us and Although we did not get to say goodbye, there is no farewell needed for we know your love will always be with us. May God bless you our precious baby boy and may you peacefully rest in the light and love that is God. Rosary will be recited Thursday, July 3, 2014, 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - University with visitation one hour prior. Rosary will be recited Monday, July 7, 2014, 6:00 p.m. at Cristo Rey Church, 1120 Canyon Rd, Santa Fe, NM 87501. Mass will be Tuesday, July 8, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at Cristo Rey Church in Santa Fe. Interment will follow at Rosario Cemetery, 499 N Guadalupe Street, Santa Fe, New Mexico 87501. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Pete's favorite charity, NM Dog Rescue, Outreach, Education.
