Pete Montoya Jiménez

September 17, 1920 — September 17, 2016

Pete Montoya-Jiménez, age 96, was born in Morenci, AZ on September 17, 1920. Pete was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. His passing was peaceful as he fell asleep and was welcomed into the arms of his heavenly Father on his birthday, September 17, 2016. Pete was known for his love of life and his special gift of nurturing all who knew him. His radiant smile welcomed everyone he touched. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Jeanette Gonzalez-Jiménez; three daughters, Diana, Melinda, and Patricia; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He also leaves many cherished nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
"Daddy" was a WWII Veteran where he proudly served as a gunners mate in the United States Navy. After his service he attended community college in El Paso, TX where he met the love of his life, Jeanette Gonzalez. They celebrated 70 years of marriage this past August 25th. Also touching Pete's life were the many important friends, customers, and co-workers he had as a car salesman for over 45 years in El Paso, TX. He was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed and spent many years as a devout Catholic serving his parish as an usher at Sunday mass. Among his favorite things was watching his Dallas Cowboys and the Dodgers. He enjoyed preparing food and drinks for his friends and family. He was known for his great barbeques, sense of humor, his love of dancing, and his infectious laugh. Daddy... our hearts ache, but we know you are now resting. Until we see you again "Papas".
The celebration of his life will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016, 10:00 a.m., in Garfield, New Mexico at San Isidro Catholic Church, 2003 Loma Parda Rd., where he and Jeanette married. Viewing will take place at 9:00 a.m. followed by the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will follow. Daddy will be laid to rest at Garfield Cemetery with military honors. A reception for family and friends will be held immediately after interment at San Isidro Catholic Church hall. We thank all of our friends and family members for the love and support they are giving us as we prepare for the celebration of our father's life.
