Peggy Karen Carder Perini

September 16, 1940 — December 20, 2022

Peggy Karen Carder Perini was born on September 16, 1940, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. She passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022, from complications from Alzheimer's. Karen grew up on the family farm in Paoli, Oklahoma, a small community 7 miles North of Pauls Valley. She was the second of six children born to Earl and Gennie (Bailey) Carder. She attended school in Paoli and graduated salutatorian from her high school class in 1958. She attended the University of Oklahoma and earned her degree in Home Economics in 1962. She met her husband, Dale, in the Spring of 1962, at the University of Oklahoma. They were married February 9, 1963, in Paoli. Karen taught school in Ardmore, OK and Broomfield, CO until her daughter, Robin Lynn Perini, was born. She did not teach again until 1979 when her youngest child, Stephen Dale Perini was in the 5th grade. She taught Jr. High Home Economics in Hobbs, NM for over 20 years.

Karen's love for her family and her concern for their well-being was the primary passion in her life. She was very active in the First United Methodist Church in Hobbs, NM and served as the Wedding Hostess for many years. She was also very active in the Walk to Emmaus and served on many walks and helped organize her 4th Day Bible Study Group. These words from the Bible found in Second Timothy 4:6-8 are fitting for Karen. “'As for me, the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is reserved for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me on that day, and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.'"

Karen is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dale, of Albuquerque, her daughter, Robin, of Albuquerque, and her son, Steve (Jodi) of Fayetteville, GA. She has three beautiful Grandchildren which she adored, Haley Lynn, Hayden Dale and Lanie Grace Perini of Fayetteville, Georgia. She is also survived by her brother, Lloyd (Judy) Carder of Gainesville, TX, sister Gayle Sorenson of Grapevine, TX, sister Earlene Carder of Grapevine, TX, brother Lee (Patsy) Carder of Edmond, OK and sister, Lynn (Roy) Hogsed of Grapevine, TX. Her brothers and sisters were very helpful and supportive during her fight with Alzheimer’s as well as Judy and Jim Britton of Hobbs, NM. Special appreciation is given to Karen's Caregiver for the past 8 years, Bobbie Archuleta and her daughters, Zoe and Azri'el and the special help she received from her sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Barbara (Perini) & Bob Forrest of Carlsbad, NM, as well as the entire Forrest family. She was preceded in death by her mom, Gennie (Bailey) Carder in 1990 and her dad, Earl Layfette Carder in 2000.
