Peggie June Treece Stovall was born in Searcy County, Arkansas, the youngest child of Benjamin Claude Treece and Aldia Willis (Robertson) Treece. As a child she lived with her family on the Treece farm in Searcy County, and later in the town of Marshall, the county seat of Searcy County. Her father was a farmer and businessman who died of Multiple Sclerosis when Peggie was 12 years old. She was then raised by her mother, with help from her older sister, Margie Treece Blair and her husband, Milla Blair, as well as her brother, Ben and sister, Betty Jo. Peggie attended high school in Conway and Marshall, and graduated in the Conway High School Class of 1952. She moved, along with her mother, to Santa Fe, NM in 1953, where she worked for the Mountain Bell telephone company in Santa Fe for several years. She married James N. Stovall, a U.S. Navy World II-era veteran and Korean War Army combat veteran, in 1956 in Santa Fe, when Jim was stationed at Kirtland Air Force base in Albuquerque. The two became parents of a very special daughter, Jennie Jean Stovall, born September 1, 1957. A twin daughter, Jannie Jo, did not survive the birth. Jennie suffered from cerebral palsy, and Peggie and Jim were devoted parents to Jennie, caring for her with infinite patience and immeasurable love until her death in 1988. Peggie and Jim resided in Albuquerque's Northeast Heights for the final 35 years of their time in Albuquerque, where Jim worked for the Department of Energy at Kirtland Air Force base before his retirement. The two were charter members of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, and the enlisted club at Kirtland Air Force Base. They ran a successful jewelry business, Jen-Gem, Inc., specializing in Native American and southwestern jewelry. They enjoyed low-stakes gambling at many area casinos, and camping, fishing and RV travel. Peggie was a life-long fan of rockabilly music, particularly Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis. Peggie was preceded in death by her parents; beloved daughters, Jannie and Jennie; husband, Jim; and siblings, Margie Treece Blair of Albuquerque, infant brother, Claude Mason Treece, Betty Treece Schaumberg of Santa Fe and Albuquerque, and Benjamin Irwin Treece, of Los Alamos, NM and Fayetteville, AR. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great and great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming.
