Peggie Roe

July 19, 1930 — September 12, 2023

Peggie Roe, a dedicated servant of the Lord, wife, mother, grandmother, and beloved friend to many passed away at age 93 on September 12th, 2023. Even though she wore many hats, her main identity rested in Christ. She trusted the Lord with all her heart and glorified Him in the way she lived her life.

Peggie was born in Birmingham, AL and met her sweetheart William (Bill) Roe while she was still in high school. Peggie and Bill were married for 48 love-filled years.  They were seen often holding hands, with their arms around each other, thoroughly enjoying each other's company.   Peggie lost Bill in 1996 and although she grieved the loss of the love of her life, she remained positive and active in her community and in the life of her family.

The family moved from Birmingham to New Mexico after Bill finished college. The family spent 10 years in Albuquerque and Peggie fell in love with the mountains and most of all, Albuquerque’s 365 sunshine filled days.  A job transfer took the family to Minnesota where Peggie worked for the South Washington County School system as a district secretary. She was extremely proud of the value she brought to the school system and the people she served. Upon Peggie and Bill's retirement they returned to Albuquerque, where Peggie could look out her picture window at her beautiful Sandia Mountains, revel in daily sunshine and enjoy the hot air balloons that only Albuquerque offers.

One of the things that Peggie valued most was giving back to her community. As a young homemaker Peggie was a part of an organization called the Busy Bees. This service organization had many community projects such as sewing hospital gowns for the homeless. As a retiree, Peggie volunteered for over 30 years at Lovelace Westside Hospital. Peggie was known for the love and comfort that she brought many. Her serving efforts were done with a heart to glorify the Lord in all she did.

Peggie is survived by daughters, Toni Roe, Vicki Vineski; son-in-law, Richard Vineski; granddaughter, Anna Roe, and nieces, nephews, and many cherished friends. Peggie filled the role as honorary mom for many. She will forever be missed.

The family wishes to thank Bosque Trails Hospice for the excellent and compassionate care they gave Peggie during her final days.
