Pearl Louise McCully (FCC callsign KD5KDL), age 57, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021 at the RUST Medical Center in Rio Rancho, NM, after her battle with T-Cell Lymphoma. She was born to a young mother in Geneva, Ohio, Saturday, October 19, 1963, and adopted by her loving parents, Ronald K. Pattin Sr. and Edna, who preceded her in death. She was an amazing wife, loving mother, and gifted educator. She is survived by David, her husband, and Evan, her only son, as well as her adopted siblings, Ronald K. Pattin Jr., Deanna Darrall, Harry Pattin, and Richard Pattin, her biological parents, Rebecca Tome-Dollas and Frank Campbell, biological half-siblings, Jamie Miller, Tracy Carey, Joy Ignatowski, Dan Campbell, Willie Johnson, and Nathan Campbell, and in-laws, Irene Brown, Katherine McCully, and Jennifer Spinler, as well as many nieces and nephews from all sides. Pearl spent most of her childhood years in Pennsylvania, graduating from Cibola High School in Albuquerque, NM, after her parents moved to Rio Rancho. She earned her Bachelor's in Education at the University of New Mexico in 1987, and was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints later that year. She first met her husband, David, in an accident at the Institute of Religion; They were sealed (married) as husband and wife at the Salt Lake Temple in Utah one-and-a-half years later. Pearl and David worked as teacher, educational assistant, and substitute teachers for Albuquerque Public Schools commuting from McIntosh, NM, until 1997 when she earned her Master's Degree in Education and Early-Childhood Development. In the 1997-98 School Year, Pearl and David moved to Grants, NM, where she taught for three years before becoming pregnant with her son and only child, Evan. Two years later, she returned to work as a teacher for the Gallup-McKinley Schools in Special Education, and later IAES/AEP in Crownpoint where she helped many last-chance students out of the gutter. The program was cut leading up to her early retirement due to disability in 2017. In 2017, Pearl was diagnosed with T-Cell lymphoma and after a long struggle, was ultimately called home on Monday, January 25, 2021. At the age of 27, Pearl accidentally discovered she was adopted while going through some storage items. She had struggled with this for many years, and had tried several times to find her biological family but with no success. In 2018, she purchased a copy of her original birth certificate and took a DNA test. She was blessed to have found her biological family in Aug 2020; In her final days, she was never more happy than when she was talking to family. Pearl will be laid to rest on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque. Private services will be live-streamed on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at FRENCH-University. Flowers can be delivered to 1111 Universiy Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM, 87102. May she rest in peace meeting and teaching all those who have gone before us, home once more with that God who gave her life!
