Pearl Cook, Jr.

Pearl Cook Jr., age 94, of Albuquerque passed from this life on Saturday, January 27, 2018 after a fall resulting in a broken femur and then suffering a massive heart attack.

Pearl was born a twin on June 22, 1923, in Gridley, Kansas to Pearl Cook, Sr. and Almedia Scales Cook. Pearl was in the United States Army from January 1944 through January 1946. He was with the 801st Engineering Battalion, Company C, and was stationed in Okinawa as an Automotive Mechanic. Pearl worked as an automotive mechanic for forty years. After retirement he taught mechanics at Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute. He continued to work on friends and families cars until he became physically unable to do so . He resided in Albuquerque from 1946 until his passing. Pearl was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-four years, Josephine Cook; son, William Cook; and infants, Alice Cook and John Cook. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Pearl Cook Sr and Almedia Cook; brothers, Virgil Cook Glen Cook; twin, Pleas Cook; and Howard Cook. Those left to mourn his passing include children Susan Cook Cox (Earl) and Robert Cook (Audra Arwood), and daughter-in-law Lois Cook; grandchildren, Shanelle Cook (Jeremy Smith), Timothy Cook, Allison Cook, Aaron Cook (Erika), Wesley Cook (Laura ) Stacy Shackelford, (Brent Deetz), Michael Shackelford; great-grand children, Mackenzy Simpson, Kelsey, Joselyn, Levi, and Charlotte; and great-great grandson Jaxon. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

He was loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be on Friday, February 2, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Services will be on Saturday, February 3 at 10:00 AM at FRENCH - Wyoming. Interment will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Timothy Cook, Allison Cook, Wesley Cook, Michael Shackelford, Stacy Shackelford, and Martin Cook. Honorary pallbearers are Aaron Cook, Richard Cook, and Donald Cook.
