Paulita Maes

Paulita Baca Maes, age 93, passed away at her home in Albuquerque on Monday, August 5, 2024.

"Polly" was born in Santa Rosa, New Mexico on September 15, 1930, to Francisco and Leandra Baca. She was one of twelve children. She is survived by her daughter Dolores Bryan and husband Edward; her daughter Yvette Garcia and husband, Rudy; her son Steve Maes; her grandchildren Ashley Spoltore- Maes, Christopher Maes, Stephen Ryan Maes, Matthew Bryan and wife Natalie, Tom Bryan and wife Sarah, and Maria Bryan; her brother Boni Baca, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Horacio Maes, her parents Francisco and Leandra, and ten of her siblings. (Margaret, Trinnie, Magdalena, Pelagia, Andy, Celistina, Frank Jr., Raymond Sr., Connie, and Gilbert).

"Polly" retired from Bernalillo County Medical Center as an Administrative Assistant. She was a dedicated mother, wife, and Catholic. After her retirement, she and her husband Horacio traveled and saw much of the country, and some of the world. She and Dad enjoyed their religious journeys to France and other Catholic sites.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Pamela Martinez, her caretaker, for the professional and compassionate care given to our mother. We would also like to thank Hospice de la Luz, particularly Roslyn, Kristal and Cheyenne; and Vivian and Shaune Reese for their help during Mom's time of need.

A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm on Monday, August 19, 2024, at FRENCH- Lomas. A Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 11:00 am with Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
