Pauline Velasquez

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Pauline Velasquez on April 15, 2025 at the age of 95. She was at home surrounded by her family.

Pauline was born in Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico on December 11, 1929, to Frank Esquibel and Virginia Cantu Esquibel.

Pauline left Tierra Amarilla at the age of 19 years old and worked various jobs before moving to Pueblo, Colorado and subsequently following her dream of becoming a nurse. She attended the Columbus School of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois graduating as a Registered Nurse.

Pauline worked as a Registered Nurse both in Colorado and New Mexico. She retired after 35 years.

The family would like to thank Aileen, Theresa, BooBoo, Zoraya and the staff at Harmony Home Health Care team.

Pauline is survived by her sisters Adela Martinez (David) Cebolla, New Mexico, Annie East, Evans, Georgia, Atocha Herrera (Gilbert), Cochiti, New Mexico and several nieces and nephews and their families.

Pauline is preceded in death by her husband Alcario Velaquez. Her parents Frank and Virginia Esquibel. Her brother Joe Esquibel. Her sister Felicita Bruley. Her Niece Grace Gallagos and Nephew Scott East.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on May 9, 2025 at 9:00am at Nativity of The Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church.

Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery on May 12, 2025 at 10:00am.
