Pauline Grace Christopher

Pauline Grace McClain Christopher, age 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1941, Pauline (Polly) passed away after suffering a gallimaufry of illnesses Saturday, August 19, 2017. She was born in McAdoo, Texas and was a member of Chelwood Park Foursquare Church in Albuquerque, NM for many years and most recently attended Hoffmantown church.

Polly was known for her warm, friendly, and welcoming smile. She had a great sense of humor and a quick wit. Polly was a consummate teacher, always challenging people to think. She had many talents; she was a seamstress, swim teacher, a master knitter, and so much more, but she was not a cook! Polly had a thoughtful and generous heart that was full of kindness and grace. She was a faithful follower and lover of Jesus Christ and she left a beautiful legacy of faith. Polly was a blessing and a delight to everyone. Jesus truly shone through her life. She was an amazing woman – a true gem.

Pauline (Polly) was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Christopher; father, Henry J. McClain; mother, Bertha L. Collins McClain; sisters, Beatrice Peterson, Thelma Vishaway, Hilda Cashman, and Patsy Miller; son, John A. Christopher, Jr. (Budd); grandson, Duncan Christopher; and daughters-in-law, Melba D. Christopher and Clare C. Christopher. She is survived by sister, Shirley D. McClain Bolles of Arizona; daughter-in-law, Kathy S. Christopher of Sunland, CA; son, Warren M. Christopher; daughter, Cindy M. Johns and her husband, Willie Johns Sr.; and daughter, Susan C. Taylor and her husband, M. Glenn Taylor, all from Albuquerque, NM. Her grandchildren are Matthew C. Christopher and wife, Susan E. Christopher of Castaic, CA, Anna K. Christopher Friend and husband, Christopher Friend of Glendale, CA, James A. Christopher (Andy) and wife, Lea Christopher of Albuquerque, NM, Erin R. Johns Manzanares and husband, David Manzanares of Albuquerque, NM, Willie J. Johns, Jr. and wife, Melissa T. Garcia Johns of Las Cruces, NM, Michael C. Taylor and wife, Esther C. Taylor, and Steven M. Taylor, of Albuquerque, NM. Her great grandchildren are John A. Christopher, III (Trey) and Robert H. Christopher (Hobbs) of Castaic, CA., James N. Christopher, Emily M. Christopher, Zachary D. Christopher of Albuquerque, NM, Carys R. Friend and Kathleen G. Friend of Glendale, CA, Kayla J. Johns of Las Cruces, NM, Lilliana M. Manzanares, Alejandro J. Manzanares, and Christopher A. Manzanares of Albuquerque, NM, and Brooke L. Taylor and Brian M. Taylor. She was blessed with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Polly’s Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2017, 1:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas with Rev. Kathy Christopher officiating. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Warren Christopher, Willie Johns, Sr., Glenn Taylor, Matthew Christopher, Willie Johns, Jr., Michael Taylor, Steven Taylor, James Christopher, and Zachary Christopher.
