Paula V. Gomez Garcia

Paula V. Gomez Garcia went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 12, 2017 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Paula was born in Chamberino, New Mexico and became a longtime resident of Albuquerque in the 1960s. She worked at Gulton Industries, the Digital Equipment Corporation, Honeywell and the Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute, now known as Central New Mexico Community College. Upon retirement, she continued to be a caregiver to all. She soon became a nanny for two prominent families in the Albuquerque area.

Paula loved to play softball and continued to play well into her 50s alongside her daughters and granddaughter. She was the No. 1 fan for her sons and grandchildren as they played baseball as well. She was an avid sports fan and her favorite professional teams were the Dodgers and the Cincinnati Reds.

Paula is survived by her daughters, Edna Rendon and husband James and Rose Duran and husband James; her sons, Johnny Gomez and wife Tita and Richard Gomez; her former spouse, Juan M. Gomez, and her sister, Ramona Dominguez and husband Efren. She was known as “Buska” to her six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, Christina, Nettie, many nephews and nieces and several other family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her sister, Josephine Valtierra.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Ambercare Hospice, her hospice nurse, Miss Michele, and her hospice aids, Miss Courtney and her granddaughter, Savannah Faifer.

A visitation will be held Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at FRENCH – Westside. Pastor Ruben Sandoval will officiate. A reception will follow at the home of Rose Duran.
