Paul Marianetti went home to the Lord on Friday, April 2, 2021, at the age of 79. Paul was born Friday, February 20, 1942 in Albuquerque to Yolanda and Paul Marianetti as a fourth generation Italian, of which he was very proud of. He grew up as an only child and chose Ron Grover for his brother and best friend.
When Paul made friends, he made them for life and many of his present-day friends had been a part of his life for a half century. Paul had an incredibly beautiful and dry sense of humor. After he was the best man for a friend's wedding, for 45 years he said, "I'm the best man but could never prove it!"
His wonderful sense of humor and loyalty caused his friends to stay close to him. A few years ago, he suffered a health crisis and close friends brought him through it, returning him back to good health. He said many times that he could not have done it without their help.
Paul attended Albuquerque High School and went on to earn his business degree from the University of Albuquerque and put it to work in the family business, Marianetti Properties.
For many years, he was employed by the University of New Mexico and the City of Albuquerque, which is where he met Patti.
After he married Patti, they RV'ed extensively across the country with their dogs. They also traveled many times to his homeland of Italy, where he still had family.
He and Patti were incredibly generous to the citizens of Albuquerque when they donated a building to be used as a headquarters for the Albuquerque Foundation. They were also involved in the Doberman Rescue and the sponsorship of foreign exchange students.
Paul had many special qualities but he was best known for his generosity, and for his funny, loving, caring positive attitude.
Paul is survived by his precious daughter, Christina Mellema and her husband, Mark; grandson, Max; granddaughter, Talia; significant other, Jannie De Angelis, and her children. An incredibly special thanks goes out to his caregiver, Joy Ruiz.
Many, many friends and business associates spoke of his long-time loyalty. Our thanks go out to everyone involved in making his day-to-day life better. A very heartfelt honor goes out to all the Marianetti's and the Matteucci's.
Fino a reincontrarci (until we meet again)
