Paul Louis Garni

Paul L (Junior) Garni, 86 of Albuquerque passed away at Grace Adult Care Home Assisted Living on January 23, 2022.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy (Bailey), Son Joseph (Doreen) Garni, Daughter Lisa (Mark) Witt and granddaughter Samantha Garni.

Paul was born Jan 20, 1936 in Ely, MN to Paul and Rina (MIgliarina) Garni. He was a graduate of Ely High School and attended Ely Junior College. He served in the US Army for 24 months at Ft. Belvoir, VA, returned to Ely after his discharge and resumed working on the Mesabi Iron Range, but later returned to Ft. Belvoir where he began his civil service career. On June 3, 1961 he married Nancy Bailey at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria, VA. They spent 10 years living in Minneapolis, MN and then relocated to their present home in Albuquerque. The family also spent three years in England where Paul worked as a systems manager at the Civilian Personnel Office at RAF Bentwaters, returning to Albuquerque in 1979.

Paul was a loving Husband and Father and a dedicated Federal employee. He loved all sports and was an outstanding baseball player in his younger years. He was a member of the Shrine of St. Bernadette.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Remo and Edward.

Paul is beloved by his family and will be deeply missed.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary followed by Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday January 31st 9:30 am Rosary, 10 am Mass at the Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church with Fr. Rick Zerwas as celebrant.  11509 Indian School Rd. NE

Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM.
