Paul Reynolds Arnold
November 16, 1931 - August 28, 2021
Paul was born in Amarillo, Texas and moved to Albuquerque with his family in 1941. Paul attended Albuquerque public schools and graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1950.
Following graduation, Paul enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War and achieving the rank of Communications Technician Petty Officer Third Class (CT3). Upon his discharge in 1954, Paul enrolled in University of New Mexico and became a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity at UNM, where he formed many life-long friendships. It was also at UNM that he met, and later married, Katherine McFarland in 1957. The beautiful marriage lasted 64 years and is a testimony to their love and commitment to each other and to their families.
Paul was a successful Mechanical Engineer, eventually owning his own engineering firm that provided industrial heating and air conditioning equipment for commercial and government buildings throughout New Mexico. Even with a busy professional life Paul's hobbies were intricately tied to his love of service, primarily with the Shriners and the Royal Order Jesters. Becoming a member of the Ballut Abyad Shrine in 1960, Paul worked tirelessly for nearly 60 years on the Banquet Committee also known as the Azayim. The kitchen at the Shrine Center is lovingly named Cocina de Arnoldo in honor of his years of dedicated service. Paul's biggest joy and pleasure was helping to manage the Transportation Fund set up to assist New Mexico families in need with transportation to the many Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Paul was a member of the Albuquerque High School Lettermen's club, Ballut Abyad Shrine, Royal Order of Jesters Court #24, Temple Lodge #6 - as a 33rd degree Mason, Scottish Rite and BPOE.
As a young man Paul enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers, Claude and Jerry. That expanded to extensive boating and fishing trips with family and friends for decades, plus a love of international travel and frequent excursions to Las Vegas.
