Pattie Jean Skousen

October 15, 1952 — September 16, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Pattie Jean Skousen at the age of 71 on Monday, September 16, 2024. Pattie was born in Phoenix, AZ and lived a life of service and charity while following the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pattie was raised in Mesa, Arizona with her parents, (Erna May and Forrest Craghead) and two brothers, Jimmy and Curtis. She lived near her grandma, Agnes Jean, who influenced her life greatly.

Pattie met and fell in love with Kenneth Neil Skousen, and they raised their five children in Maricopa, Arizona for 15 years on the farm where Pattie managed the books and ran the day-to-day operations of the farm. When her husband got his license in law, they packed up the kids and moved to Kingman, AZ where they resided for the majority of their lives.

Pattie finished her education in her 40's and graduated summa cum laude with her Master's in music education.

When her youngest attended school, Pattie started her career working in the junior high and elementary schools in Kingman as a music teacher, pianist, and drama teacher.

Pattie always volunteered at her church and served as relief society president, primary president, and young women's president throughout her life. She was also dedicated to playing the organ for each ward or branch she attended.

Pattie also loved quilting and making baby blankets for all of her grandchildren and the babies in the ward. When she retired, she had a passion for genealogy and became a temple worker driving two hours one way to serve weekly as a temple worker in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Pattie and Ken moved to Albuquerque in 2019 to spend a year with their two grandsons and ended up staying five years. Pattie homeschooled nearly all of her grandchildren and spent many hours teaching history and math to her grandchildren. Pattie also served as a beloved temple worker in the Albuquerque NM temple.

She truly emulated the light of Christ. Every person she met felt our saviors' love.

Pattie is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Skousen, who was holding her hand for her last breath; her two brothers, Curtis Craghead (Julie) and Jimmy Craghead (Cheri); her five children, Jared Skousen (Faith), Sharla Wilson (John), Julie Barnes (Stephen), Craig Skousen (Blair), and Kendra Taylor (Mike); her 15 grandchildren, Amanda, Landon, Logan, Samuel, Joey, Brandee, Edward, Nolen, Cash, Ryann, Arianna, James, Blaine, Sylus, and Elli; and 2 great-grandchildren, Santonio and Luca.

She will be remembered for her creativity, silly nature, kindness, loving nature, and her devotion to our savior Jesus Christ. Her legacy will live on in our hearts.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., with a funeral service to begin at 10:00 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6009 Kachina St. NW Albuquerque, NM 87120.
