Patsy ("Pat") Rich of Tijeras, New Mexico passed away at age 83 on January 19, 2013 from complications of heart disease. Pat was a Korean-era veteran and retired owner of Greenwich Printing and Litho in his hometown of Greenwich, Connecticut. After moving to Tijeras he and Dorothy, his wife of 59 years, immersed themselves in church, civic and cultural organizations in their adopted East Mountain community. Pat was past president of the East Mountain Area Association, treasurer of the East Mountain Historical Society, volunteer on the Altar and Rosary Society for Holy Child Church, and member of the Manzano Mesa Multigenerational Center. As part of his work with the East Mountain Area Association, Pat successfully lobbied to have a dark sky ordinance adopted by the County Commission, served on the East Mountain Area Plan update committee, and campaigned to have rural fire stations open and staffed for the safety of East Mountain residents. In 2003 he was awarded the Outstanding Citizen Award from Bernalillo County. Pat was a 9-year cancer survivor who treated every day he had with his loving family and friends as a gift. Pat is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his five children, Susan and husband, Kevin Bean of Carnuel, Kathleen and partner Chris Koch of Tijeras, Kevin and wife, Holly of Kennebunk, Maine, Tom and partner Cindi Allen of Edgewood and Anne House and husband, Bob of Edgewood; grandchildren, Rebecca Rich, Joshua Rich, Benjamin Bean, Katherine Rich, and Rachel Bean; sister, Grace Murphy of Fort Pierce, Florida and brother, Donald Rich of Byram, Connecticut. He was predeceased by his son, Michael; sisters, Lucy Rich, Anna Bruno, Carrie Romanello, and Jennie Genise and brother, Arthur Rich. A Rosary service will be held Friday, January 25, 2013, 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, January 26, 2013, 10:00 a.m. at Pope John XXIII Catholic Community, 4831 Tramway Ridge Road NE, followed by internment at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made to M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas.
