Patrick Edward Montaño

d. November 19, 2021

Patrick "Pat" Edward Montaño was born to Gabriel and Petra Montaño in Mosquero, New Mexico.

His grandparents, Eufracio and Florencia Baca, owned a ranch where Patrick spent all of his summers through college and learned his strong work ethic.

He attended high school in Mosquero and continued his education at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque earning a Bachelor's Degree in Health and Physical Education. He earned a Master's Degree with honors from Boston University in Education.

He started his career as the high school basketball coach in his hometown, then proudly served in the United States Army for eight years earning the rank of Captain. He operated his own financial services company until retirement in 2010.

Patrick had a passion for cycling and participated in many cycling events, such as the Santa Fe Century 100- and 50-mile rides and the Stonewall Century 100- and 50-mile rides in La Veta, Colorado.

He was a devout Christian and served his church in many ministries, outreaches, and apostolates. He served three terms as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Prince of Peace Council 13479 and one term as District Grand Knight. His one passion was the ACTS apostolate which he served for many years and is referred to by many as the "Grandfather of ACTS."

He took great pride in his sons' accomplishments and would share their successes with anyone who would listen. Among his many blessings were his granddaughters, whom he adored and loved showing off. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.

Among those waiting to welcome Patrick to Heaven are his father Gabriel, his mother Petra, and his brother David. He is remembered with love by his wife Bernadette, his two sons Matthew and Damian, Matthew's wife Laura, his granddaughters Margot, Alice, and Baby M due January 5, 2022, loving in-laws, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of long-time friends.

A Rosary and Resurrection Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Prince of Peace, 12500 Carmel Avenue NE in Albuquerque at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow on Wednesday, December 15 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe Street in Santa Fe at 10:15 AM.
