Patricia Oetting

October 30, 1937 — May 11, 2013

OETTING, PATRICIA MIERA YOUNGAge 75, passed away after a courageous fight with cancer on May 11, 2013. She has made the journey home to be with her loved ones which have gone before her. Patricia M. Oetting was born on October 30, 1937 to Stephen Maurice Miera and Carmen Baca Miera in Albuquerque, NM. Patricia was one of seven children. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1955 and went on to the Regina School of Nursing. She took a detour from completing her nursing degree in 1957 and married the father of her children, Dwight R. Fulton. They began their family and traveled throughout Europe for the next three years. Upon returning to the states, they lived in various parts of the United States and completed their family. Patricia went back to college in 1968 and graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina with a degree in the Allied Health Sciences. She was the recipient of the nationwide Mead Johnson Fellowship. Patricia later went on to complete her registered nursing degree. She worked in the medical field, as a respiratory therapist, physician's assistant, registered nurse specializing in surgical procedures, and nurse practitioner. Patricia took great pride in her medical career and her children. She returned to New Mexico in 1991 to be close to her mother and sisters. During her retirement years, Patricia could be found working in her garden, painting, playing the piano, and creating porcelain dolls. Many of her paintings and dolls were displayed in the state fair and were the recipient of awards. Patricia became very active in Meadowlark Senior Center. She loved to dance and was involved in the Senior Olympics for dance where she and her friends won gold medals. She loved to learn and enrolled in various language courses, and yes fishing. She was very social and loved people. Patricia is survived by her children, Elaine (Michael) Crombie of California, Matteo (Michelle) Fulton of California/Mexico, Cynthia (Alfred) Fineberg of Arizona, and Andrew (Amanda) Fulton of Delaware; her grandchildren, Benjamin, Daniel, and Allyson Crombie of California, Teo, Nico, and Robert Fulton of Mexico, Jon Thomas Young of Delaware, Cynthia Proetzel of Delaware, Noelle Zimdahl of Hawaii, Molly, Andrew Jr., Aaron, and Laura Fulton; she was also blessed with eight great grandchildren. Patricia also leaves behind her loving sisters, Lucille Miera, Edna O'Laughlin, and Antonia Light; brother-in-law, Bud Light; her cousins, Evelyn Gutierrez and Rose Silva; and numerous nieces and nephews; and of course her family of friends. She is preceded in death by her sons, Stephen Patrick Fulton and David Lee Fulton; her father, Stephen M. Miera; mother, Carmen B. Miera; brothers, Stephen Miera, Jr., and David Miera; sister, Rosalind Perea; and brothers-in-law, Vito Miera, and Archie Perea. Our family would like to thank June Stein of Hospice Compassus for her loving care of our mom. A celebration memorial will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, 6:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Westside.
