Patricia Dunkeson

Patricia Pine Dunkeson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025, at the age of 80, surrounded by her loving family. Born in 1944 in Albuquerque, Pat was the eldest of three daughters. Her life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to her family and friends.

Patricia grew up in New Mexico, where she cultivated a deep love for nature, literature, and learning. She graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in Education and later went on to get a Master's degree from St. Johns College which she put to great use during her more than thirty years of teaching at Albuquerque Public Schools. Her dedication to her students and working with "her kids" was her passion.

In 1965, Patricia married the love of her life, Larry, with whom she shared 48 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home, raising two children, who were the light of her life, especially as they went on to marry and have grandchildren.

Patricia was known for her boundless creativity and generous heart. She found joy in painting, hiking, and reading. Patricia's faith and compassion for those less fortunate were the foundation of her life.

She is survived by her children, Chris Dunkeson and his wife, Eva, and Mark Dunkeson and his wife, Julie, and her cherished grandchildren, Katie Whittaker and her husband, Max Whittaker, Ryann Dunkeson, Jenna LaLonde and her husband, Sebastian LaLonde, and Nolan Dunkeson. She also leaves behind her sisters, Betty Gravgaard and JoAnn Pine, nieces and nephews, and countless friends who will forever hold her memory close.

A celebration of Patricia's life will be held at a time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Patricia's memory to The Friends of Valle de Oro National Wildlife Refuge.

Patricia's warmth, wisdom, and love will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
