Paiboon Tangyunyong, age 65, of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at his home.
A native of Thailand, “Pai” was very hard working and generous. He cared deeply for his family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors. Pai joined Sandia Labs in 1992, where he completed his post-doctoral research in surface science before joining Sandia’s Failure Analysis Department in 1994. His impact on the FA community was represented in his numerous publications, patents and awards. His diverse, influential FA work included scanning probe microscopy, thermal/IR imaging, and multiple electron, ion and laser beam-based fault localization techniques. His most recent research interests focused on developing Power Spectrum Analysis (PSA) for counterfeit device detection and its application for root cause FA. Pai was recently awarded a National Nuclear Security Administration’s Defense Programs Award of Excellence. Pai was a mentor, leader, and friend to many throughout the FA community. He leaves behind legacies at Sandia and in the broader FA community.
Pai is survived by his wife, Nan Tangyunyong; daughter, Melody Tangyunyong; son, Nathan Tangyunyong; parents, Man and Manee Tangyuenyong; sister, Puangpetch Tangyuenyong; sister, Puangrat Tangyuenyong and her son and daughter, Mr. Panuwat Tangyuenyong and Miss Pornnicha Tangyuenyong; brother, Paisarn Tangyuenyong and his wife, Patchanee, and their daughter, Pimsiri Tangyuenyong and son, Pitchayut (Pete) Tangyuenyong; brother, Paitoon Tangyuenyong, his wife, Napattada and their son and daughter, Mr. Piyapat Tangyuenyong and Miss Nattada Tangyuenyong and sister, Puangpat Tangyuenyong.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, 10:00 a.m., FRENCH – Lomas, with a reception to follow from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
