Otto Holmquist passed away at home on Monday, May 22, 2023. Otto was born in Phoenix, AZ but lived most of his life in his beloved New Mexico. He graduated from New Mexico Institute of Technology in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geotechnical Engineering. He was a Professional Engineer and established his own consulting firm, Geolines, LLC in 2004.
Otto loved camping, fishing, playing with his many dogs, operating his amateur/ham radio (call sign N7TWI) and spending time with his family and friends. Otto has been active in his community as a Cub and Boy Scout leader and as an Optimist.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nancy; his two sons, Nicholas (Christina) Ramirez and Lucas Holmquist; his daughter, Kathleen Ramirez; two granddaughters, Kaitlynn Ramirez and Azaliyah Ramirez; two grandsons, Xavier and Gabriel Ramirez; his sister, Holly Nelson, and nieces, Jeanne Nelson and Laura Hughes-Stiverson. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Laura Holmquist; his sister, Jeanne Hughes, and companion dogs, D.D., George, Butterball and Lucky.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023, 6:30 p.m., at FRENCH-Lomas.
